How do revenue splits work?
On Deelm.com, businesses can participate in two different ways: by offering promotions (as a "promoting business") or by referring customers to other businesses' promotions (as a "referring business"). Many businesses do both! When a customer makes a purchase, the revenue is split between all parties involved.
As a business on Deelm.com, you'll benefit from our fair revenue sharing model regardless of which role you play. Deelm.com handles all payment processing, tax calculations, and fund transfers, making it seamless for you.
Scenario A: Referring business connects their customer to Deelm.com and they purchase a promotion
For a $100 promotion with Gross Receipts Tax of 7.265%:
- Customer pays: $107.27 ($100 + $7.27 tax)
- Stripe fee: $3.41 (($107.27 × 0.029) + $0.30 = $3.41)
- Net proceeds: $103.86 ($107.27 - $3.41)
- Net before tax: $96.59 ($103.86 - $7.27)
- Promoting business: $77.27 (80% of $96.59)
- Referring business: $14.49 (15% of $96.59)
- Deelm.com: $4.83 (5% of $96.59)
- Tax held for remittance: $7.27 (collected and remitted by Deelm.com)
Scenario B: The customer comes to Deelm.com directly and they purchase a promotion
For the same $100 promotion:
- Customer pays: $107.27 ($100 + $7.27 tax)
- Stripe fee: $3.41 (($107.27 × 0.029) + $0.30 = $3.41)
- Net proceeds: $103.86 ($107.27 - $3.41)
- Net before tax: $96.59 ($103.86 - $7.27)
- Promoting business: $86.93 (90% of $96.59)
- Deelm.com: $9.66 (10% of $96.59)
- Tax held for remittance: $7.27 (collected and remitted by Deelm.com)
For Tax-Exempt Nonprofits
If your organization is tax-exempt, tax is only applied to the non-exempt portions of the transaction, reducing the total price for your customers.
Nonprofit Example:
- When a tax-exempt nonprofit is the promoting business:
- Tax only applies to the non-exempt portions (Deelm.com's fee and the referring business if applicable)
- Customers pay significantly less tax on their purchases
- The nonprofit still receives its full 80% or 90% share of the net proceeds
- When a tax-exempt nonprofit is the referring business:
- Their portion of the transaction is tax-exempt
- They still receive their full 15% referral fee
A Note on Rounding
All monetary calculations use precise decimal arithmetic, with rounding to the nearest cent. Deelm.com absorbs any small rounding differences that might occur during calculations to ensure that promoting businesses and referring businesses always receive exactly their full percentage shares.
Payment Timeline
- Funds are transferred to your Stripe account after the promotion is redeemed
